Contemporary Photography: Professional Practice and Contexts. Photoworks and the MA photography course at University of Brighton presented a series of talks and discussions by artists, writers and curators working with contemporary photography.
These events intend to provide an insight into the practice and contextualization of photography for anyone interested in contemporary art whilst also benefiting practitioners and other professionals pursuing a career in the field of contemporary photography.
Anna Fox has been working in photography and video for the last twenty years. As a student of Martin Parr and Paul Graham, she became a member of an influential group of British colour documentarists who came to prominence in the 80’s. Her chronicles of everyday life encompass domestic abuse, the post-industrial leisure industry and the claustrophobia of rural England.
Val Williams is a writer and curator based in London. She is currently Director of the Photography and the Archive Research Centre, University of the Arts, London.
