Domestic Interiors

An exhibition for HOUSE 2011
Sian Bonnell, David Spero, Nigel Shafran

7 - 29 May 2011

Three photographers transform the ordinary into the uncommon in a show curated by Celia Davies for HOUSE 2011.
Curated by Celia Davies for the Regency Town House, in Brunswick Square, Hove, this exhibition brings together three photographers who take the domestic space as their subject. The selected series of works by each artist, made over long periods of time, utilise everyday existing interiors and domestic objects to transform the ordinary into the uncommon.

By chance or through deliberate construction and placement, objects interplay with carefully chosen interiors of the Regency Town House, to evolve a subtle contemplation on the concept of the domestic and that which is familiar to us.

HOUSE 2011 is the curated partner festival to the Artists Open Houses, part of Brighton Festival and Brighton Festival Fringe. Returning for a third year, HOUSE features more than a dozen projects, located in independent galleries, domestic spaces, artists’ studios and ‘back room’ locations in well-known and lesser known places throughout Brighton and Hove. This year Celia Davies, Head of Projects at Photoworks, has been the curatorial advisor for the festival.
