Terry Johnson

This body of work explores a hobby that is sadly becoming less common in the UK (especially amongst the younger generations). The art of racing pigeons is one that is  steeped in history and prestige. These images portray one man’s passion and enthusiasm that will sadly, end with him as his only son has no interest in pigeon racing. The images show the passion, nurturing and commitment necessary to succeed in this sport/hobby. The other aspect of the project was to represent the human/animal interactions and relationships that are only available through the process of evolution. The pigeon (as with all animals derived through domestication) is ultimately dependent upon man.
