In Between

In Between is a photographic collaboration between myself based in London and my identical twin brother who lives and works in China. The starting point of this project was to look at how the internet was affecting the way photography was being produced. As the project progressed it also became interesting to see how we as twins reacted and responded visually to the very different environments we now inhabit.

The pairs of images you see are decided by factors such as the time between each image being taken and the visual coherence between the two. Emphasis is placed upon ideas and concepts being exchanged through the imagery. The project touches on many issues, it also acts as a cross cultural examination of two locations for who environmental, historical, political and geographical factors have all culminated in the development of richly different ideas, languages and values. At the core of the project lies a desire to better understand our environment and to explore how it exerts it’s influence upon the experience of the individual.

Phillip Reed: Graduated in 2010 from BA (Hons) Photography at LCC. Lives and works in London. Recently exhibited ‘In Between’ (9th – 16th July 2011) at ‘Project’ a new space in Hastings being managed by Creative Coast.

Anthony Reed: Graduated in 2007 from NSAD (Norwich School of Art and Design) BA (Hons) Fine Art. He lives and works in China.
