Peter Mitchell

Peter Mitchell is a Leeds based photographer and a pioneer in colour documentary photography in the UK. Mitchell held the first landmark colour photography exhibition in the UK at Impressions Gallery in York in 1979, titled A New Refutation of the Viking IV Space Mission. The work was included as part of Archives from the New British Photography of the 1970’s, a Photoworks exhibition curated by Val Williams and exhibited at the Gardener Art centre, Brighton in 2005. His work was included in Val Williams' exhibition How We Are at Tate Britain in 2007.
