David Chandler

David Chandler is a writer, editor and curator. He was Director of Photoworks from 1997-2010, and is now Professor of Photography at the University of Plymouth.

Recent collaborations include Dark Formations, an audio/visual project with the composer Ed Hughes, which explores through archival imagery drawn largely from the Imperial war Museum, the allied bombing of Germany during the final years of World War II. An introductory piece from this project was premiered at King's Place in London in September 2010.

Other collaborative projects with artists, as a writer, include recent essays on the work of Paul Graham, in particular as part of his survey monograph published by SteidlMack in 2009; with Jem Southam on his book Clouds Descending published by The Lowry, Manchester in 2008; with David Spero on his project Settlements, and with Helen Sear on her forthcoming monograph to be published by Ffotogallery, Cardiff.
